Lauria C. Marineau

AUBURN- Lauria C. Marineau, 97, of Auburn died peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with her daughter by her side. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on October 10, 1916 the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Vallee) Maltais and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated in Lewiston schools. She had been employed for thirty-three years as a stitcher in the local textile industry until her retirement in 1979. Lauria enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling with her second husband Gerard. She especially enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays.

She is survived by two daughters Louise Bernier and her husband Lionel of Lewiston and Jeannine Dupuis and her husband Thomas Layton of Prosper, Texas; seven grandchildren Donald Bernier and his wife Lorraine of Lewiston, Richard Bernier and his wife Jane of Minot, Todd Hutchins and his wife Carrie of Cumberland, Michelle Riggle and her husband John of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Monique Walker and her husband James of Portland, Edward Dupuis of New York and Stacey Spawn of Alpharetta, Georgia; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Florian Dupuis who died in 1978; her second husband Gerard Marineau who died in 1997; one son Joseph Dupuis; a step-son Robert Marineau; a granddaughter Rita Bouchard Bernier; three sisters Yvette Deraps, Cecile Chasse and Marguerite Marineau; a brother Ernest Lessard. The family wishes to thank the staff at Schooner Estates, whom they referred to her as “Memere”, and the Hospice House of Androscoggin for the wonderful care they have given to Lauria. A Memorial Mass honoring Lauria’s life will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Committal services will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
