Lorraine C. Baril

LEWISTON - Lorraine Baril, the strong willed and caring matriarch of the Baril family died March 2, 2017 at Marshwood Nursing Home. In 2003 she underwent her first open heart surgery to replace an aortic valve, and again in 2012 for another replacement. For the last 5 years she was on oxygen 24/7 but still continued to be independent and also assist her sisters and sons. She was born in Lewiston on May 22, 1934, the youngest daughter of Emile and Corrinne Boutin Vachon. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish/Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. She graduated from Lewiston High School class of 1952. On July 23rd of 1955 she married Roger Baril. They lived together at 115 Montello Street known as “the house with the flowers on Montello Street”, for their entire married lives. Together they established the family business Overhead Door Company which later became International Door Corp. in the Lewiston Industrial Park now being run by their grandson Jason Baril. She worked hard her whole life helping run the business and devoting all her energy into providing a nurturing family home. She was as tough as they come and would do everything she could for her family, neighbors, and friends. She enjoyed her life and the love of everyone around her. She traveled extensively throughout the US and the world with her husband Roger cruising to Alaska and the Panama Canal and visiting many countries in Europe, Northern Africa, and South America.

Lorraine is survived by two of her sisters, Ruth and Jeannine Vachon both of Lewiston, her brother Real Vachon of Arnold, Maryland, two sons Paul O. Baril and his wife Nina of Lewiston, and John R. Baril of La Jolla CA, her three grandsons Jason and wife Meredith, and David all of Lewiston, and Thomas of Hudson MA., and a great granddaughter Mia of Lewiston. She was predeceased by her brother Robert and by her cherished husband of 56 years Roger. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Fortin/LEWISTON. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 (11:00am) at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. A committal service will immediately follow the Mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
