

AUBURN - Louis J. Fournier, 90, a resident of Western Ave., Auburn, died peacefully December 31, 2008 New Year’s Eve Day at the Hospice House with family by his side. He was born in Biddeford, July 18, 1918, the son of Louis N.E. and Marie A. (Martin) Fournier. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco, and graduated from Portland Junior College and Boston University. He began his career in 1940 with Metropolitan Life as an insurance underwriter and agency executive and later worked as an agent and associate general agent with New England Life and retired as Vice President of Sales with Longley Associates of Lewiston in 1981. His professional memberships included the Androscoggin Valley, Maine and National Association of Life Underwriters; Golden Key Society member; and member of the insurance industry’s Million Dollar Round Table; He was a charter member of the Lewiston Exchange Club; co-sponsor of the Waterville Exchange Club; member of Club Musicale; American Legion Post # 22; former president of the Sacred Heart Church School PTA; member of the Auburn Education Council, and corporator of Central Maine Medical Center and Mid Maine Mutual Savings Bank. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the 10th Armored Division, 3rd Army in France and Germany. He received three combat stars; Presidential Unit Citation; Bronze Stare; Purple Heart with Oak Cluster; French Liberation medal; and the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm. He was a long time active member as well at Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include three daughters; Louise Milasauskis and husband, Albert of Gorham grandchildren, Kelly Milasauskis Littlefield and husband, Joshua; William Milasauskis and great grandchildren, Noah and Emily Littlefield; Joline F. Kelley and husband, Timothy of Plymouth, MA. grandchildren, Patrick and Matthew Kelley one son, Philip L. Fournier and wife, Annette of North Yarmouth; grandchildren, Michelle, Julie and Scott Fournier; and Celeste C. Butler and husband, Daryl of Acton, MA with grandchildren, Nicole and Danielle Butler as well as a special care giver and nephew, Marc Croteau of Auburn. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Odette Croteau Fournier, November 27, 2008. FOURNIER died in Auburn, December 31, 2008, Mr. Louis J. Fournier age 90 years a resident of Auburn. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring Louis's life will be celebrated SATURDAY, January 3rd 11:00AM in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery with military honors.
