

She was born in Yarmouth January 18, 1922 the daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Fessenden) Bailey.
Lucille was educated in Auburn schools, and graduated from Edward Little High School Class of 1940. She began employment with Aero Tread Shoe Company before joining the Women’s Air Corp “WAC” during World War II. She was stationed in Orlando, Florida and worked as an Air Traffic Controller.
In 1947, she married the late Oscar J. Welch, a Sargent in the US Army from Lewiston, ME. They lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina and France during his tour of duty. They returned to Lewiston in 1963 upon his retirement.
Lucille worked at Pepperell Mills and Bauer Hardware until her retirement, after which she volunteered at CMMC in Lewiston.
Lucille and Oscar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.
She lived on the Pond Rd. for almost 50 years before moving to Meadow View, and later became a resident of Schooner Estates.,
She was a member of the High Street Congregational Church, the Alden M. Gayton Post 31 of the Women’s Auxiliary and was a member of the Robin Dow Society.
She enjoyed spending time at the ocean with her family especially the summer vacations at Wells Beach. She also enjoyed social activities with her many friends, travelling the country on bus trips, playing cards and having pot luck dinners.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Welch Frodyma and husband, Paul of Needham, MA., three grandchildren ,Daniel Frodyma, Kenneth Frodyma, Jaime Frodyma Krouk, and Jason Krouk all of Massachusetts. Two great grandchildren, Christopher Frodyma and Aayla Krouk.

WELCH died in Auburn, March 21, 2016, Mrs. Lucille Bailey Welch age 94 years.
Funeral services honoring Lucille’s life will be held FRIDAY MAY 20TH 11:00AM at the funeral home. Graveside committal prayers to follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery concluding with military honors.
