Auburn – Maple L. Gross, a.k.a “Auntie M.”, 68, of Lewiston, died peacefully Thursday May 30,2019 at The Androscoggin Hospice House. Maple’s long time love for her Red Hat family has helped her keep strong through the years. She also loved the slots! Often she would walk around casinos in Vegas, Biloxi and yes, Oxford, asking everyone “Has anyone seen my shirt? I lost it playing the slots!” Maple lived her life the way she wanted, loved many the best she could and enjoyed making everyone laugh! She will be greatly missed by many.

Maple is survived by her husband Gerry Gross a.k.a. “Dad”, daughter Sarah MacDonald, son Gary Williamson, daughter Rebecca Wardwell, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and younger brother Skeet.

Where do I begin, there are so many, we loved riding the horses, I remember we use to ride bareback and would mount from the front porch, we always hung a May basket on someone or all of us girls would meet at the swimming hole. Taking a sleight ride up towards Willies or riding the snowmobile out in the field, digging potatoes in her grandparents field so they would take us to the fair. We knew how to be kids. I wish we had kept in touch more, but as we got older we all went our own ways. Gone, but not forgotten. Rest in pease and enjoy your family up there.

Waiting w/"the girls" on a Sat. night getting ready for the DANCE at Weld. Somehow we had snuck in some ?juice to help Maple celebrate her 17th birthday. Beth and I were standing against the wall & someone took a snapshot. As a group Maple, Priscilla, Joyce, Beth and (sometimes little sis April) always had a fun time. I probably have forgotten lots as we became friends shortly after they moved to Carthage. You will be missed, my friend.!!!
