

LEWISTON - Marguerite Cliche Fortin, 75, a resident of 20 Albert St., Lewiston died Saturday afternoon following a courageous battle with cancer at home with her family by her side. She was born in St. Victor, PQ., Canada on June 12, 1931 the daughter of Adrien and Anastasie (Latulippe) Cliche. She attended schools in Canada and married Victor Fortin on July 2, 1955 and moved that same year to Lewiston. While in Lewiston, Marguerite worked as a stitcher in the local shoe industry for many years. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, a member of Holy Cross and Lewiston Senior Citizens. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Victor Fortin of Lewiston; one son, Michael Fortin and his wife, Marian of Wilbraham, MA; one daughter, Lillian Martin and her husband, David of Lewiston; two brothers, Gerard Cliche of Magog, PQ; and Paul Cliche of St. George, PQ; three sisters, Muriel Breton and Jeanne Dorval and her husband, Maurice all of Magog; and Lise Jovanich of St. Victor, P.Q., Also surviving are two grandchildren, Maximilian and Madeline Fortin. FORTIN died in Lewiston, March 24, 2007, Mrs. Marguerite M. Fortin age 75 years a resident of 20 Albert St., Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be TUESDAY 10:00AM at Holy Cross Church. Burial St. Peter's Cemetery.
