Maurice Carrier

LEWISTON -Maurice E. Carrier, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, at St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion with his wife and stepdaughters by his side. He was born in Lewiston on March 30, 1933, son of the late Edouard and Angelina Lemieux Carrier. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from St. Dominic High School. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the 136 Army Band. Maurice was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul. He was a painter by trade and worked as a supervisor in the Bates College paint shop. After retirement, Maurice continued to be a self-employed painter, during which he would get most of his jobs from referrals by satisfied customers. Maurice was a kind and gentle man and was well-liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed many trips to Montreal, family gatherings, and dinners and movies on Friday nights. It was obvious to those who knew him that he was happiest when he was by his wife's side. He would often buy her flowers for no special occasion other than to say, "I love you". He will so be missed. He is survived by his wife, the former Ida Roy of Lewiston; stepdaughters, Doris Rodrigue and husband Michael, Monique Laberge and husband Michael and his children, Diane Mathieu, Denise Michaud, Linda Vile, Nancy Martin and Michael Carrier and 9 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marguerite Ferro, Lucille Carrier and Louise Carrier and a brother, Laurier Carrier. The family wishes to extend gratitude for the excellent care given to Maurice while a patient on 3-East at St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion.
