Maurice Arthur Lamontagne

Maurice was born on August 2, 1926 to Almeda & Arthur Lamontagne in Lewiston, ME. After school he enrolled in the United States Army and served honorably until 1948.

Upon returning to the States, he married Jeannette Bussiere on New Years Eve 1948, going on to have three children, Monique Franck, Gaetan Lamontagne, and Denise Lamontagne.

Early on, Maurice provided for his family working in shoe shops and factories. Later he and Jeannette owned and operated two local clubs in Lewiston’s busy downtown area. With their children raising families of their own, Maurice later took a job as a Millwright at General Motors which took them away for several years until his retirement, when they settled back in Maine.

Maurice enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage, reading, and playing cards, but all were second to spending time with his family.

Maurice was predeceased by his wife Jeannette, his parents Arthur & Almeda Lamontagne, bothers Lionel Lamontagne, Stanley Lamontagne, Robert Lamontagne, and sisters Adrienne Cox, Georgette Hand, and Yoland Collins.

He is survived by his son, Gaetan Lamontagne, and daughters Monique Franck and Denise Lamontagne, Five grandchildren, Eight great grandchildren, and Five great-great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass honoring Maurice’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church. A Military Honors Service will then follow after the Mass at the Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4-7 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
