Our dad had the "gift of gab". He loved to tell stories about his childhood, especially the "Cherry Bomb" story.Mischief ness usually included his childhood best friends Galen, Normand, Roland & Ted.Family man- He loved his entire family including all of his twelve grand children and 15 great grandchildren. He was enjoying his newest great grandson & how his face lit up when we told him he had another great grandchild on the way!!Hard worker- Dad always worked very hard at no matter what he did. Beginning as a young child, he worked at family farms in Jay. Following his young adulthood he for logging companies in Jay, a few local gas stations and also on his families poultry farm in Auburn. As an adult, he worked for many years at U.S. Gypsum, Etonic and later in life at the Auburn Motor Home Center. He loved working there. I remember once on my day off, I went over to bring him an ice cream as a suprise4. As I drove up with his ice cream, it was melting pretty fast due to it being such a hot day. I could see my dad outside cleaning one of the large campers. There was a girl about my age holding a garden hose and watering the camper down while my dad had a large brush in his hand and was scrubbing away!! As I walked over, I could see him working so hard. He was in his 60's by now but in some ways you'd never know it. I couldn't help but wonder why he wasn't holding the garden hose and why "SHE" wasn't scrubbing the bus. But that?s how my dad was?.Hobbies Included: Fishing, Hunting, Camping & Gardening. Some of his favorite camping places were: Carrie Pond, Big Jim, Spring Lake, Big Eddie, Cathedral Pines& Bryant Pond. He loved his family camp in Township Letter D!! Dad loved the Boston Red Sox! He never gave up and recently saw them win the World Series. He made many, many friends along the way. My parents camping partners were Uncle Frank & Aunt Faye Tower. While camping, we took many long rides down tote roads in Uncle Frank's jeep looking for wild life. We usually ended up crossing many old crickity bridges or passing through very narrow roads, covered with water. As the women would most often scream at how unsafe it was, the men would usually just laugh and say it was fine. A few times, the women even got out and walked across those bridges but not me and Brenda. We'd stay right in with Uncle Frank and Dad and just go on! It was so much fun and you know what, we always made it across just fine.Dad had a special bond with his sister Dotty. They not only loved each other very much, they also respected each other as well. They were both very family oriented and those along with many more special traits were passed down onto my sisters and I. For that, I thank them!*We will never forget our dad, we'll always love him. As I struggle with lossing my dad I keep in mind all the values he tried to instill in me and my sisters. One of the many talks we had comes to mind. He often told me "Daughter money goes through your fingers like water over a dam!" he said to me learn to be happy with the simple things in life, learn to need less and give more". I love you Dad and althought you probably thought I wasn't listening, I always was, your daughters adored you and practally hung on your every word. I will forever miss you and I pray I will never forget the sound of your voice, your endless stories, and your smile. Untill we meet again, I love you, peace be with you. Brenda

My Dearest Dad,Oh how I miss you! Who do I ask before I buy a car? How can we share the Great-Grampa Gross cherry bomb story, oh how you would laugh.How can I take you for a ride in my Mustang? Can I ever watch Lord of the Rings or Monsters INC. again? Oh and Dad don't you worry about Mike Macouscie I will cherish that little green one eyed man forever.I know in my heart and soul Dad that you are in Heaven with family and friends and our Lord Jesus who went before you. Grampa...Where do I begin? I never forget all the times I went to your house on Howe st. and you were sitting there watching the Red Sox...and so little did I appreciate them. I was always trying to convince you to change the channel or watch a movie. Little did I know that one day I two am as big of a Red Sox fan as you..who knew! Now everytime I sit down to watch a game I can see you sitting in your chair with your Budweiser and Peanuts cheering them on. Another sweet memorie of mine is when we went camping up at bryant pond and I begged you all day to go fishing in your boat so much I probably drove you crazy. When you finally agreed to take me you said "it's too late in the day to day to catch anything but we can go for a ride" So we were off to Christopher Lake. Once we arrived and unloaded the boat You forgot the tackle! So you left me at the dock and told me not to let go of the boat you'd be back. Once you finally returned we were on our way. All you kept saying is it's too late to catch a fish. Well I wasnt setting for that answer...I was bound a determined to catch my fish! While you were setting things up I kept playing in the water with your fish net. You kept telling me over and over to stop playing with it I was going to loose it. About an hour later you hooked on to a nice salmon...and whoops there it goes you lost it. But wait there's me playing with the net again...and there was that beautiful salmon in ther net! You see I got my determination from you grampa I may have not have been listening to you that day but I did always listen to you words of wisdom and stories. I love you grampa and I pray I will never forget your gentle voice, your priceless laugh, and your warm smile. May you rest in peace...until we meet again!Jenny
