

Monique (Dozois) Dutil, 87, born in Lewiston Maine on April 22, 1939 to Beata (Lebel) and Gerard Dozois, passed away on September 8, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was a kind hearted and pleasant person who remained this way even as Dementia and Alzheimer’s stole many of her abilities. Her sense of humor never failed her.
She grew up on River Street in Lewiston’s Little Canada surrounded by the close-knit Franco-American community that shaped so much of who she was. She attended St. Mary’s School in Lewiston, Mt. Merici Academy in Waterville ME and St. Mary’s General Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1959 ). She met her husband Maurice (Moe) at The Rollodrome in New Auburn ME and they were married on September 3,1960 at St. Mary’s Church.
Monique worked as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. She was a Public Health Nurse for the city of Lewiston both at City Hall and MultiPurpose Center retiring in 2001.
Monique’s deep faith was reflected in her service to her church and community. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, Eucharistic Minister at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul and a member of the St. Croix choir.
Monique was predeceased by her husband Maurice (Moe) Dutil, her sister Liliane Dozois and in-laws Arthur Fortin, Jeanine & Norm Dutile.
She is survived by her children Jean Ann (Bob Zenker), Treya (formerly Paul) Dutil and Norman (Robyn) Dutil, grandchildren Nicole Dutil-Anderson (Patrick), Morgen and Evan Dutil, Victoria (Zenker) Russell (Nicholas) and Benjamin Zenker (Rainee Taylor), great grandchildren:Thomas Anderson and Zoey Russell, several nieces and nephews & great nephews & nieces, her siblings: Jacqueline Fortin, Claude (Carol) Dozois, Judith Dozois (Joan Gibbons).
The family would like to sincerely thank all the ordained and professed “religious” who shaped her incredibly strong sense of faith which she gifted to us. Thanks to the following care facilities for your kindness, care, and compassion over the years.
Specifically, the staff at both St. Mary’s and CMMC hospitals, The Residences at St. Mary’s Hospital, Schooner Estates Assisted Living, D’Youville Rehab, Clover Rehab, Schooner Estates Memory Care, and Andwell Hospice.
A special thanks to Jackie Fortin and all family and friends who all enriched Monique’s life and kept her safe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Parish Lewiston Maine, or Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Monique on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM with a Southern Maine Nurses Honor Guard Service at 6PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway Lewiston, ME 04240. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, September 15 at 11AM at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus Street Lewiston, ME 04240. Committal Prayers will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Deer Road Lewiston, ME.
