Monique was born on May 21, 1932, in Garthby, Quebec, to Adelard and Alexina LeBlanc. She grew up as one of 16 siblings and remained connected to her family throughout her life. Her family was an important part of who she was, and she was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
On August 20, 1955, Monique married William “Bill” Nadeau, in Richmond, Quebec. Together they built their life and family in Maine. Monique made her home in Rumford, Lewiston, and Auburn throughout the years.
Monique was a woman of strong faith who found joy in the simple things in life. She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, volunteering, and taking trips with the Senior Citizens. She could often be found enjoying a good card game and spending time with the people she loved. Her faith, family, and friendships were an important part of her life.
Monique also spent time working at Rumford High School and St. John’s School in Rumford. She was known for her caring nature, her love of family, and her enjoyment of good company and conversation.
Monique experienced many joys throughout her life, including becoming a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She cherished the generations of family that followed her and the memories they created together.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, on June 27, 1983; her children, Bill Jr. and Helene; her grandson, Derek, who passed away in 2003; and her 16 siblings.
She is survived by her son David and his wife Kathy, daughter in law Kelly; her grandchildren, Nina, Christopher, and BJ (William III); her great-grandchildren, Adam, Samantha, Mason and Olivier; and her great-great-grandchildren, George, Stella, and Theodore. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Monique also held a special place in her heart for her family’s beloved pets, including her grand dogs, Bergy and Millie, and her grand cats Goldie and Minew.
Monique will be remembered for her faith, her love of family, her enjoyment of a good card game, and the many memories she created with those around her. Though she experienced the heartbreak of losing her husband and several members of her family, the love she shared with those who remained was a lasting part of her life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Chapman House in Auburn and Andwell Hospice House for the care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Monique and her family.
