

Lewiston- Muriel St. Pierre Baylis passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday June 2, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1932, the youngest of six children to Philippe and Gloria Levesque St. Pierre. She grew up on Blake Street in Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1951. She married Edward C. Baylis on June 6, 1953. Before her marriage, Muriel worked for New England Telephone Co. She was a member of the service organization The Telephone Pioneers. She left to raise her family and returned in the early 1970's. She retired in 1996 from Nynex in West Falmouth. She raised five daughters and was involved with their activities, especially Girl Scouts. Muriel's retirement years were spent pursuing many interests. Her passion was gardening. For many years she was a Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick's Church and most recently ministered at CMMC. She was a member of WLU. She also volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She and her husband spent many summer vacations in Bar Harbor and winters in Florida. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She stayed active swimming with the "swimming ladies" at the YWCA and formed many close friendships. Muriel was a great cook, an avid reader, a wonderful caregiver to her husband and a generous and loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, her five children, Susan Hanson and her husband Roderick of Saco, Christine Savignano and her husband Philip of Auburn, Carol Baylis of Auburn, Cathleen Schwartz and her husband Richard of Carmel,Indiana, Cynthia Snow and her husband Fred of Manchester, her grandchildren Ryan Poisson and his wife Erica, Margaret and Sean Savignano, Catherine, Richard III, Elizabeth & Patrick Schwartz, Anna and Nicholas Snow, great-grandchildren Kayden and Kendra Poisson, her brothers E. Philip St. Pierre of Auburn, Gene St. Pierre and his wife Theresa of Auburn, Raymond St. Pierre and his wife Carmen of Lewiston, Roger St. Pierre and his wife Germaine of Leesburg, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Sylvia Bernier and sister in law Rita St. Pierre. Baylis-Died in Lewiston June 2, 2007. Muriel, age 74 , . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday time and church to be announced. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
