

LEWISTON: Normand T. Dumont, 86, of Lewiston passed away on July 5, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Lewiston on April 1, 1931a son of the late Levite and Imelda (Durocher) Dumont. Norm was educated at St. Peter’s School and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1951. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. On October 5, 1957 he married Solange (Sally) Frenette at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Lewiston. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Spofford Chevron and a short time at Braggs Auto Parts. He retired in l995 and worked part time after retirement at Rainbow F.C.U. for 11 years. Everyone loved Norm. He loved to help other people for he was a “ jack of all trades”. He was a member of American Legion Post 22 where he enjoyed going on Friday nights to play cards. He was an active member in the Jacques Cartier Club for more than 40 years, and also a Board member of the Club in the 1980s. Normand is survived by his loving wife Sally of 59 years of Lewiston, his son Larry and his wife Sam Dumont of Virgina, his daughter Linda and her husband David Bilodeau of Mechanic Falls, and his sister-in-law Jackie Dumont of Lewiston. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren; Corie Lee (Dumont) Miller and her husband Marc, Captain Cody Dumont, Danielle Bilodeau and Sean Bilodeau and his wife Courtney of Minot as well as five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond and his sister Priscilla Lagasse. We are very thankful to Marshwood Nursing Care Center and to all the RNs and CNAs of D’Youville Nursing Center as well as Beacon Hospice for the great care Norm received. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Fortin\Lewiston from 4-7pm. A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated also at Fortin\Lewiston on Thursday July 13, 2017 at 11am with committal prayers following at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable contribution in Normand’s memory to Seniors Plus Meals on Wheels, 8 Falcon Road, Lewiston ME 04240.
