Peter G. Fleury

AUBURN- Peter G. Fleury, 79, of Auburn died on Saturday morning April 6, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a long illness. He was born in Winthrop, Maine on May 11, 1933 the son of the late Leonidas and Dorilla (Fleury) Fleury and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1, 1951 to January 15, 1954.

Peter married the former Lorraine C. Guay on August 20, 1955; and she died on June 25, 2001. He was employed for many years in the local shoe industry and was a custodian for St. Peter’s elementary school prior to his retirement. Peter was past president of the Fraternal Snowshoe Union and was currently an active member of the Franco American War Veterans. He is survived by a son Gary Fleury of Livermore; two daughters Linda Provencher and Debra Leone both of Auburn; a brother Raymond Fleury of Lewiston; a sister Silvia Herrick of Auburn; four grandchildren Shawn Leone, Scott Downs and his wife Meagan, Lynn Gross and her husband Josh and Nicole Lacroix and her husband Aaron; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin and everyone else who has helped out the family during Peter’s illness. Funeral services honoring Peter’s life will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 PM at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will be held later in the Spring at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
