He was born on May 25, 1966, the first son of Gloria and Normand Chaloux, and thought the world of his parents and his younger brother Jason. He was raised in Lewiston on Blake Street and attended Lewiston schools. He loved being with his downtown friends whom he knew from school and the neighborhood in which he was raised, today known as the “Blake Street Crew.” He loved playing street hockey and getting into trouble.
He married his high school sweetheart and the woman of his dreams, Joline Chaloux on June 30, 1990 – this year would have been their 30th anniversary. They then had two sons, Brandon and Luke, whom he was extremely proud of and talked about often as well as Brandon’s fiancée Sarah Wing. Ray loved spending weekends with his family going out to eat on Saturday nights, running errands and even taking day trips and vacations.
Throughout his career, he was proud to work at Jayson Benson & Sullivan Co., Pleasant Dairy, the BlueLinx Corp (formerly known as Georgia Pacific), and the Sun Media Group where he spent most of his career. He excelled at everything he did and was adored by his peers.
Ray had many hobbies from watching TV, going camping with his beloved camping family, and of course his deep love for the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and cars and loved listening to 80s music; play any song and he could tell you anything you wanted to know about it. He also loved Italian food, especially lasagna and spaghetti, which he could easily eat every single night. He loved to decorate for holidays, especially Christmas, and was insistent on colored lights in his Christmas tree, not white lights.
You would be hard pressed to find Ray in a bad mood. He was a cheerful, loving and funny person who was kind to every person he met and was the first person there to help anyone in need. He loved to reminisce about past shenanigans and his favorite family memories.
He is predeceased by his father, Normand Chaloux and is survived by his mother Gloria Chaloux, his wife, Joline Chaloux, sons Luke and Brandon Chaloux, Brandon’s fiancée Sarah Wing, his brother Jason Chaloux and his girlfriend Kelly Johnson, their daughters Alexia Chaloux and Annora Johnson, and many dear family and friends.
Ray was taken from us far too soon but we have all gained the most amazing guardian angel. Until we meet again…
