Auburn, ME - Raymond Donald Fortier, a humorous and hard-working man, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 22, 1935, in Lewiston, Maine, Raymond was a cherished resident of Lewiston throughout his life.
Raymond honorably served in the US Air Force and Army Reserves, dedicating part of his life to the service of his country. In 1961, he married Emma Blanchard, and they spent 64 joyful years of marriage together and 60 of them on Venise Ave in Lewiston where they raised their four children. Their love was a testament to commitment and endurance, blessed with four children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Known for his love of car shopping and his talent for roller skating, Raymond delighted those around him with freestyle tricks and cherished memories of meeting his beloved wife on roller skates. His interests extended to yard work, where he was often seen with his trusty wheelbarrow. Raymond was also a fan of country music and enjoyed watching movies, particularly westerns. His fascination with new electronics kept him engaged and curious throughout his life.
Raymond's legacy is marked by his humor and his role as a trickster. His jokes will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. He was a man who ensured his family was well-versed in everyday life skills, reflecting his caring and devoted nature.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and nurses from the Andwell Home Health & Hospice and the Veterans' Administration, with special thanks to Barbara, Stacy, and Amy for their exceptional care.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Emma (Blanchard) Fortier; his sons, Raymond A. Fortier (Heather) and Marcel D. Fortier (Diane); his daughters, Michelle R. Beck (Marshall) and Rena J. Hughes (Billy); his grandchildren, Amanda, Raymond, Meghan, Alicia, Emily, Sarah, Ryan, Christopher, Michael, Calvin, and Kalista; and his great-grandchildren, Christopher, Carter, Finnley, Emma, and Callahan. He is also survived by his sister, Monique Grenier, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, John C. Fortier and Jeanne Bernier, and his sisters, Joline Gagne and Flo Roux.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Faucher, Christopher Faucher, Michael Faucher, Calvin Hughes, Garrett Anthony, Chris Knight, and honorary bearer Raymond Fortier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1 - 4 pm at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 11 am at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus Street, Lewiston. Burial will follow at St Peter Cemetery, Deer Road, Lewiston.
