

Lewiston- Rev. Maurice N. Morin, age 74 of Lewiston, died Friday May 24, 2013 at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Home. Born in Lewiston, ME on August 16, 1938 the son of the late Arsene and Yvonne (Tremblay) Morin. Father Moe as he was known throughout Maine attended Holy Cross Parochial School. He attended Assumption Prep School , where he played for the hockey team. He went on to Assumption College for two years, and he furthered his college education at the University of Ottawa at St. Paul Seminary, where he attained is Theology Degree. He was ordained a Priest on May 16, 1964 at the Cathedral in Portland by Bishop Daniel J. Feeney. His first assignment was at Holy Name parish in Machias as curate for the summer. Father Moe was also a curate at St. Peter in East Millinocket, St. Andre in Biddeford, St. Athanasius and St. John in Rumford. He served as temporary administrator in Rumford, and also at St. John in Winslow. He became a Pastor for the first time in December of 1974 at Sacred Heart Parish in North Caribou, and served as Pastor for St. Dominic in Portland, St. Joseph in Biddeford and St. Gregory in Gray. Father Moe was Chaplain of the Ursuline Sisters at Mount Merici Convent in Waterville and two years later served as Chaplain of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Waterville. In 1997 he served as Administrator of St. Ambrose in Richmond. In 1999 he was Pastor of St. Peter Parish in Bingham, and in 2001 became Pastor of Notre Dame de Lourdes in Skowhegan. In 2007 he added St. Sebastian Parish in Madison and St. Peter Parish in Bingham. Fr. Moe retired in August of 2008 at Holy Family rectory where he helped with the French Mass at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Lewiston and wherever he was needed. He was also chaplain of many Knights of Columbus Councils as well as Daughters of Isabella Circles. He is survived by his siblings; Jeannine Morin Chabot, Marcel Morin and his wife Marguerite, Raymond Morin and his wife Joan and Robert Morin and his wife Alma all of Lewiston and Auburn, a Godson Normand Morin, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
