SOUTH PARIS: Richard F. Lashua, 87, formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday January14, 2019 at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. He was born in Lewiston on August 21, 1931 a son of the late Martin Sr. and Helen (Colley) Lashua. He grew up in the Gray area and attended local schools there. He was a graduate of Pennell Institute in Gray.
After graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, Richard resided in Muncie, Indiana. During that time he worked in a meat packing house and he also worked for a steel and wire company as well as construction up until he retired. After retirement and the passing of his second wife, Bulah “Lafawn” Lashua, he returned to Maine.
Richard will always be remembered for his love of sports, especially New England teams. He was also an avid Indiana Pacers fan while he was living there. He loved playing Bingo whenever he could and his abundant love for Cheese Curls was like no other.
He will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his brother, Ralph Lashua of Auburn as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife; Helen, his second wife; Bulah, his brothers; Martin, Jr. and George as well as his sister, Katherine.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris for the continued care, compassion and devotion they showed to Richard during his ten years with them.
A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Muncie, Indiana.
