Robert "Bob" Daniel Cloutier

Born on April 21, 1954, in Lewiston, Maine, he was the beloved son of Gerard and Therese Cloutier.

He attended Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1974. As he navigated his early career, it was his time at Carboneau’s Market that changed his life forever, as that is where he met his beloved wife. He then dedicated 34 years to Bath Iron Works while also building a successful tax preparation business that he took great pride in operating until his passing.

For nearly 50 years, Bob was a devoted husband to his wife, Joline, and they were looking forward to celebrating their golden anniversary this June. Together they built a life rich in family and a shared spirit of adventure. They had a deep love of travel, both together and with their family and friends, most recently visiting Scotland, Greece, England, France, Germany, and Quebec. They enjoyed going to concerts and hockey games, dining out, drinking good beer and Drambuie, going ‘up north’ to drive and kayak along the Golden Road, walking in Thorncrag, and visiting the Christmas Markets in NYC. He looked forward to the yearly family camping trips to Sebago and pool days in the summer.

He shared a special bond with his four grandchildren - Carter, Brayden, Madelyn, and Charlie - who lovingly called him Pepere. To his children and grandchildren alike, he was a hero who could repair anything; it was a long-standing family truth that “Pepere can fix it.” He loved the Christmas season and built a tradition of decorating gingerbread houses with each of his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and introducing Carter and Brayden to hunting, a lifelong passion of his. His grandkids especially loved the simple joy of riding on Pepere’s tractor in the backyard.

He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, Joline Cloutier; three daughters, Michelle Thibault and her husband John, Jennie Cloutier-Austin and her husband Adam, Stacy Cloutier and her husband Josh; and four grandchildren, Carter and Brayden Austin, Madelyn and Charlie Sparagna. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Portland or the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
