OBITUARY

Roger F Gagnon

Roger F. Gagnon, 83, of Auburn, ME. passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in Lewiston, ME.

He was born in Augusta, ME. to Rene & Blanche (Hamel) Gagnon. The Gagnon family moved to Lewiston, ME. and Roger attended Holy Cross School and graduated from Lewiston High School.

Roger served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958 plus 4 years in the Reserves. He was stationed at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, Georgia. He served during the Korean War and was also was stationed in French Morocco.

On July 1st, 1961 he married Rita Fontaine at Saints Peter & Paul church. They were married for 59 ½ years.

In 1969 the family moved to Lynn, MA., where Roger worked for General Electric for 30 years. In 2010 Roger & Rita moved back to Maine and settled in Auburn.

Roger is survived by his wife, Rita, 3 sons; Marc of Virginia Beach, VA, John of Auburn and Scott and his wife, Rhonda of Woonsocket, RI., six grandchildren; Kylie, Brooke, Katrina, Hunter, Kevin and Cole, brother; Ronald and his wife Irene of Rowley, MA., two sisters-in-law; Julie of Mississippi, Therese of Auburn, one brother-in-law; Roland Fontaine and wife Rita, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Roger was predeceased by his parents and a son, Michael in 1993.

Bonjour, Je voudrais offrir mes sympathies à tous ceux que le décès de Roger touche. J'ai appris la nouvelle ce matin par mon cousin Marcel Gagnon. Je n'ai pas vraiment connu Roger, mais j'ai un souvenir très précis de tante Blanche et d'oncle René, le frère de ma mère Gisèle. Ils venaient régulièrement nous visiter à Thetford Mines. Je me rappelle aussi de Donald, venu une fois avec ses parents. Comme vous êtes presque tous partis aux États-Unis, la distance et le temps ont fait de nous des étrangers. Seuls "les sucres" nous ont parfois rapprochés et même cela maintenant n'a plus lieu. Ainsi va la vie, mais je souhaite qu'elle soit douce pour ceux qui restent après ce départ.
