

Roger was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 15, 1924. He was the oldest surviving member of a large family of 9 brothers and sisters.
A member of the 8th armored division from 1942-1946 during World War II, Roger was stationed in a number of European countries where he served as a decorated infantryman. His division helped liberate prisoners at Buchenwald; he was later interviewed about this experience in a documentary film that appeared on the History Channel.
Following his military service, Roger returned to Lewiston, working as a bedspread weaver at Bates Mill where he remained for over 40 years. He met his future wife, Therese St. Amour, then a nurse at the mill, and they were married at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston on October 18, 1952.
Roger was a talented carpenter, building two of his own homes, all while remaining employed at Bates.
Roger and his wife Therese, who predeceased him in 2000, had a wide circle of friends and they were dedicated travelers. They also enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his children and their families, Marc Montminy of San Diego, married to Lisa Stellwagen with three children Devon, Taylor and Cole; Robert Montminy of Manchester, NH married to Marlene Soucy with one child Erika Umali; Anne, married to Joe Miller with two children Nicole and Noah.

Montminy- Died in Bedford, NH on Friday November 18, 2016. Mr. Roger L. age 92 formerly a resident of Lewiston. A Funeral Mass honoring Roger’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal services with military honors will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston 784-4023.
LEWISTON- A Funeral Mass honoring the life of Roger L. Montminy was celebrated on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Holy Cross Church following prayers at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Reverend Robert Parent celebrated the Mass and Deacon Irenee Richard recited committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery. At the beginning of the Mass, The First Reading was read by Mr. Montminy’s granddaughter, Nicole Miller and The Prayer of the Faithful was read by his son, Marc Montminy. The Offertory was brought to the Altar by Reggie and Pauline Lagasse. The U.S. Army played Taps and presented our country’s flag to Mr. Montminy’s son, Robert Montminy at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Words of Remembrance were then expressed by Marc Montminy following the services at the cemetery. The Pallbearers were Ronald Soucy, Paul St. Amour, Robert Montminy, Reggie Lagasse and Noah and Joe Miller. A reception of fellowship was held at Marco’s Restaurant following the services.
