

Auburn-Roland A. Bard, 92, of Lewiston Me. passed away Monday December 29th, 2014. He was Born February 4, 1922, in Fort Kent ME, the son of Alphee A. Bard and Yvonne Dubois. During his early years Roland worked as a taxi driver in Fort Kent. His enjoyment of cars and driving continued throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army. Roland moved to Lewiston and was employed at Bates Mill for 36 years, while working weekends for Blanchette Moving Company. He started volunteering at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, now called The Basilica, as a Collector, Eucharistic Minister and served at many funeral services, for over 50 years. Roland enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was married in Connors New Brunswick Canada on February 12th 1955 to Annette Oakes. He is survived by his wife Annette, four children; N. Diane Poirier and her husband Roland; Nancy S. Bard; Susan D. Stanford and her husband Donald; and Dennis R. Bard. Grandchildren: Kristina A. Bouchard and husband Christopher; Ryan G. Poirier; and Nicole L. Poirier; and two great-grandchildren River & Oliver Bouchard. Also brothers Noel Bard and Lucien Bard and sisters; Rita Johnston; Antoinette Audibert; and Rena Lemieux. He was pre-deceased by four sisters and four brothers. Visitation Fortin Lewiston Friday Jan. 2 from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat. Jan. 3 at 11 AM at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul (Upper Church).
