Roland graduated from Edward Little High School and the University of Maine at Orono. He worked as a driver for Dead River Company, but his true passion was gardening. Roland spent countless hours in his expansive garden tending to the wide variety of plants he thoughtfully collected throughout his lifetime.
Roland was also known for “collecting” many hobbies. With his many friends, he enjoyed card playing, hiking, camping, and cooking for Wednesday night dinners. He also filled his time with knitting, needlework, pottery, listening to records, playing World of Warcraft, and always greeting his loved ones with a hug.
Roland is survived by his husband, Theodore Ampe and dog Elsa, his siblings Joan (Mike) Girouard, Susan Moret, Leo (Judy) Morissette, Laurie (Eric) Larsen, and many nieces and nephews.
Roland is predeceased by his parents, as well as his beloved dogs Freida, Martha, Thomas, Asa, Zeke, and Sarah, who were more family than pets.
A viewing will be held at Pinette’s on July 3rd at 10 am, followed by a precession and interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Auburn.
Arrangements are under the care of Pinette, Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home | 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway Lewiston, ME 04240
