Rolland O. Madore

LEWISTON- Rolland O. Madore, 86, of Lewiston died Thursday January 3, 2012 at Marshwood Health Care Facility with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 21, 1926 the son of the late Oscar and Claire (Laplante) Madore and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the 27th Regiment 5th Marine Division and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He married the former Muguette S. Gauthier in 1950. Rolland was an avid outdoorsman. His favorite pastime was sitting on “his” bench at Hannaford’s smoking a cigar and greeting the patrons. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Rolland is survived by his life companion Muguette S. Madore of Lewiston; two sons Daniel Madore and his wife Karen of Auburn and Keith Madore and his wife Ginny Camire of Lewiston; four daughters Linette Martin of Hoboken, NJ, Eileen McCray of Brick, NJ., Judith Everett and Cathy Brousseau both of Lewiston; two sisters Juliette Madore and Irene Morin both of Lewiston; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass honoring Rolland’s life will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Committal services with military honors will follow at 1:00 PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
