

AUBURN - Sophie I. Michaud, 84 of Auburn died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at the Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born in Rumford the daughter of the late Adam and Ugara Volkinick Lozis. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1949 and was married in Sept. 1950 to Gaston E. Michaud. He died in 2004. Sophie worked as an industrial relations manager at the former Raytheon Electronics in the 1960's. She later worked as office manager for Doctors Bournakel & Beale Optometrists until her retirement. Sophie was a longtime member of the former St. Patrick's Church and enjoyed her many trips to Las Vegas, kept a meticulous home where she tended to her flower gardens, cooking and was an avid reader. She is survived by a son, Steven P. Michaud and wife Therese of Turner; a grandson, Jeffrey P. Michaud, serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Eustis, VA.; a sister, Mary Hughes of Lewiston; a special niece, Shirley Haines of Oregon and other nieces and nephews. Visitation at Fortin/Lewiston on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 AM at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, lower level.
