Services for Alice D. Vowell, 75, will be held at Providence Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022 with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Saturday, January 22 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Providence Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
Alice D. Vowell died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born in Lexington, SC to the late L. Floyd Dooley and Ruby Anderson Dooley Shumpert on October 30, 1946. She was a member of Providence Lutheran Church. She was a 30-year retired employee of the Department of Transportation, Purchasing, then she worked part time at Porky D’s for ten years.
She was the late widow of Lester “Bucky” Vowell, Sr. of Columbia, SC and also the late widow of Timothy Dale Carroll of Lexington, SC. She is survived by her children, Alesha (Toby) Cushman of Lexington, SC, Chris (Marie) Carroll; brother, Lamar Dooley of Lexington, SC; four grandchildren, Eric and Zachary Carroll, Jordan and Hayden Cushman and stepdaughter, Mandy Stovall of NC. She was predeceased by her sister, Sarah Dooley Wessinger and stepfather, H. Murray Shumpert.
