On this day of March 4, 2024, Bess Patricia Marriner entered into eternal rest. She resided at Wellmore in Lexington, S.C. Born on May 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to parents, Arthur and Patricia Burden.
She was mother of five (5) children, grandmother of ten (10) grandchildren and great-grandmother of nine (9) great-grandchildren. She was married to her loving husband, Harvey F. Marriner, on October 25, 1946 in California and together they lived in several states before calling N.Y. home. They ultimately built their dream home in Hilton Head Island, S.C., where they resided for nearly forty years.
Mrs. Marriner was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, her five (5) siblings, her parents, and one granddaughter.
She loved to entertain, especially playing Bridge with her friends. Additionally, she enjoyed the demanding game of golf and continued to play well into her eighties. Doing crossword puzzles in ink was her way to challenge her cerebral capacity on a daily basis. While in Hilton Head, she volunteered weekly at the local thrift store (The Bargain Box). Another favorite pastime was traveling the world with her husband.
Family members plan to have a “Celebration of Life” at a future date. The exact location and date have not been determined at this time.
