

LEXINGTON - Betty Jane Gantt died quietly at her home in Lexington, South Carolina, on Thursday March 1, 2018. Born on March 22, 1933 to parents, Walter Gantt and Adelle Shull, Betty was 84 years old. She lived her entire life in the Lexington area. She was known adorably by many as “Aunt Bee”. Betty was a kind caring and generous person who was so easy to be around. She was always interested in what was happening with friends and those she loved. Betty had an extreme sense of curiosity and spark for life and had a very pleasing sense of humor. She was a wonderful cook and provided many treats over the years to those around her. Betty loved to garden and particularly adored her many cats; she was affectionately known as “the cat lady”. Betty was employed at Columbia Linens and for years at Southern Bell (AT&T).
Betty is survived by her sisters, Sarah Anderson and Hilda (Leroy) Smith; niece, Denise (Louis) Malejko; great-niece, Elizabeth Malejko all of Lexington. Betty was predeceased by her parents, and step-father, Hilton Shull; nephew, Edward Swails of Lexington; nieces Hilda Loretta Smith and Rosinah Smith; and brother-in-law, John Anderson. Aunt Bee, may you have a peaceful journey, knowing your life’s purpose is fulfilled.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday March 3, 2018 at St. David Lutheran Church Cemetery, 132 St. David’s Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
