Betty Harmon Powell, 100, of Lexington, SC passed away on May 22, 2021. Betty was born on June 5, 1920 in Lexington, SC. She was the daughter of the late George Lee and Annie Clarke Harmon. Betty was married to Rev. H.H. Powell “Buddy” for 54 years.
She retired from Lexington County’s Treasurer’s Office in 1982. Betty was part of the Red Bank Baptist Church Family for over 80 years and she loved serving beside Buddy as the pianist at Old Samaria Baptist Church for 23 of those years. She was blessed to be part of two church families where she built lifelong relationships with many very special people.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Dale P. Holsinger (Eric, deceased) and son, Rev. Robert A. “Butch” Powell, Sr. (Susan); grandsons, Rob Powell (Jamie) and Rev. Josh Powell (Allison); great-grandchildren, Wilds, Thomas, Levi, Ashley, Macy, Paton.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, daughter, Sandra L. Powell; two sisters and four brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community, Lexington, SC 29073 with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church or Agape Hospice, 128 Library Hill Lane, Lexington, SC 29072.
