Beverly Diane Johnson, 73, of Gaston, South Carolina, passed away on October 26, 2026. Born in Ringgold, GA on July 31, 1953, Beverly lived a life marked by steadfast devotion to those she loved, a loyal heart, and a selfless spirit that consistently placed family and others before herself.
From her earliest years, Beverly’s family bonds ran deep. She shared a particularly close relationship with her loving sister, Sandra, and the two remained inseparable in spirit—so much so that they made sure to speak every day at 7:00 p.m. on the dot. She also grew up with two brothers, Terry and Gene.
Beverly was, in every sense, a hard worker. She worked as a cleaner alongside her best friend, Melissa, and brought the same diligence and reliability to her work that she carried into every part of her life. In her retirement years, Beverly poured her heart into loving and raising her great-grandchildren, Aidyn and Addy. She loved them more than life itself and would do anything for them, finding deep purpose and joy in caring for her “babies,” and filling her home with laughter, warmth, and the comfort of good food.
Beverly was married to her late husband, Harold (Robin) Johnson, on July 9, 2002. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2017. Beverly was also preceded in death by her mother, Margret; her father, Clarence; and her brother, Gene.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra; her brother, Terry; her sons, Gregory and Timothy; her grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Ethan, and Austin; Trista, Amber, Cameron, Zoe, Keaton, and Kyler; and her great-grandchildren, Aidyn, Addy, Jocelynn, Giana, and Navaeh.
Beverly’s life centered on her family—her greatest passion and her proudest calling. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and daughter, and she will be lovingly remembered by her family, cherished friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved to cook, eat, laugh, and spend time with her babies, and her contagious laugh and loving spirit will remain unforgettable to those who knew her best.
In recent days, Beverly was saved and surrendered to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—an enduring comfort to those who loved her and a testament to the faith that carried her home.
Beverly was known for her blunt honesty—direct, clear, and unafraid to say what was on her mind—yet always rooted in care and a selfless heart. She made it plainly known that she didn’t want anyone who didn’t visit her while she was alive to bother after she passed, and her family loved that about her most: her straightforwardness, her sincerity, and the way she stood firmly in what she believed.
The family would like to thank her best friend, Melissa, for being there for her when she had nobody else—taking her to doctors’ appointments, being a true friend, and standing beside her through hard times. As Memaw described, Melissa was an angel here on earth, and Beverly loved her very much.
“A golden heart stopped beating, but you are now at peace forever. Safely home in heaven. We will love you forever.”
God’s Garden
“God looked around his garden and found an empty place; He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, ‘peace be thine.’ It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.”
