Brenda Sue Addison Rampey, 78, was born on September 17, 1942 and took her Savior’s Hand as he escorted her to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of Annie Mae (Nalley) Addison and Heyward Francis Addison. After graduating from Coral Gables High School, she received her R.N. from Greenville General Hospital’s Nursing Program.
She began her career in Labor and Delivery at Greenville General with stops at St. Francis and as the school nurse at Eastside High School before finishing with more than 20 years with S.C. D.H.E.C. Her childhood battle with Rheumatic fever gave her a special appreciation for nurses and a heart for service and caring for others. She was known as an excellent nurse with a keen eye for those in need and a sharp mind. She lived life with a purpose and nurtured everything under her care, from the plants in her yard to the birds that visited her feeders and people she came in contact with. She was a living example of how a person grows and becomes transformed as they draw near to Christ.
She was actively involved in her church and sang with Jim in the choir as long as she was physically able. She loved the mountains, rainy days and sitting on her back porch having hot tea with a friend, laughing and enjoying life.
She was known by all who met her for her compassionate tender loving soul, beautiful smile, and discerning spirit for those in need. She nurtured all who she came in contact with and left a lasting impression. She opened her heart and home to many. She loved her Jim, her own children, as well as those she considered hers. She looked for and found beauty in all those around her.
Her hands faithfully prayed for us and our father, and family, and probably for you too, if you knew her. These were the hands of a loving woman, with a huge heart who loved Jesus. And now she is in His hands.
Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, James H. Rampey Jr.; her son, James Christopher Rampey and wife, Rion P. Rampey of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughter, Kelly R. Craig and husband, Benjamin M. Craig of Lexington, SC. In addition, she has two grandchildren, Emerson and Grey.
Brenda Rampey will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and humble servant of God. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum. The service may be viewed via livestream on Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel’s Facebook page.
