Dad was a veteran of WWII who served proudly in the US Navy. His major engagements were at Tinian Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a member of the landing group at Iwo Jima. His ship was kamikazed off Okinawa. He received several medals including the Philippine Liberation Medal, WW II Victory Medal, along with several others. After the war, he attended Concord College. His occupations included working in his father’s store, coal mining, auto manufacturing, Greyhound bus driver, union organizer, lay pastor and spokesman for “We The People” tax reform group.
Dad was a devoted husband and father, a strong believer in God, and he loved the USA.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Anna Lou Estep; two sons, Carl M. Estep, Jr. and Michael W. Estep; five grandsons, Michael W. Estep, Jr., David D. Estep, Christopher Carl Estep, Nathan Israel Estep, John Paul Estep and two great granddaughters, Michaella and Kassidy Estep.
