Carmen graduated from Airport High School and then married the love of her life, John Bouknight, and they resided in Pomaria, SC. Carmen enjoyed camping in her RV with her husband and spending time with her family on St. Helena Island. Children were her passion and she loved and cared for all children as they were her own. She spent many years working in the insurance industry until she was able to pursue her dream of owning a childcare center in West Columbia, SC. Carmen adored her daughter, Ashley, and also her many nieces and nephews which she loved and cared for with all her heart.
She is survived by her husband, John Bouknight; daughter, Ashley Bouknight; mother, Linda Seyfer; sister, Trina Moore (Stephen); sister, Darlene Weil (Larry); brother, Malcolm Hanger (Helen); nephews, Colby and Kasen Moore, Tyler Weil, and Mason Hanger; nieces, Raylee Weil, Kristen Roof, and Amber Collins, along with great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Jay Shealy and brother, Neil Hanger.
A visitation will be held for Carmen from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 720 Bethany Church Road, Lexington, SC 29073, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
