WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Carrie L. Sharpe Chavis, 90, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chavis was born January 22, 1921 in Swansea, SC and passed away on Monday October 31, 2011. She was a daughter of the late Daniel A. Sharpe and Effie Hoover Sharpe. She attended Dolorosa Church of God.
Mrs. Chavis is survived by her daughter, Laura Patricia Chavis (Jerry) of Irmo; sons, Marvin M. Norman (Margaret) of Irmo, Dolton W. Norman (Nova) of Lexington and daughter, Lenora Harman (Richard) of West Virginia; long time friend, Sonny Hulon of Columbia; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren and brother, Cornelius Sharpe of Clearwater, SC. She was predeceased by her seven brothers, two sisters and husbands, Rev. Lehman Norman and V. T. Chavis.
