Catherine Harris Zafoot

WEST COLUMBIA - Catherine Harris Zafoot, 84, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel located at Southland Memorial Gardens, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mrs. Zafoot was born February 1, 1927 in Houston, TX. She was a daughter of the late Alexander H. and Annie Beatrice Garner Harris. Mrs. Zafoot was an avid golfer and she was a member of the Sandlappers Ladies’ Golf Association and the Charwood Ladies’ Golf Association. She also loved bird watching and gardening.

Mrs. Zafoot is survived by a son, H. Michael Zafoot (Nancy) of West Columbia; daughter, Cathy Zafoot Rawls of Columbia; grandchildren, April Zafoot Helms (Chuck), Alex Zafoot, Carrie Rawls Trivedi (Malav), Meghan Trotter and Kaitlan Zafoot; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Emma Chandler, and Leela Trivedi; sisters Myrtle Somerford, and Mildred Baskin; brothers, Clarence and Roy Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry C. Zafoot; three brothers; and two sisters.
