Charles W. Moore, Jr.

February 19, 1962October 12, 2021

When Charles Moore, Jr. passed away at home on October 12, 2021 he was doing what brought him the most meaning in life—keeping the company of people he loved. At the end of a months-long process of cancer treatment, Charlie embraced Chari, his fiancée, and held his daughter Sylvia’s hand in his final moments. Charlie was 59 years old.

Charlie was an automotive technician for over thirty years, and both family and friends remember his eagerness to help anyone with car trouble at a moment’s notice. Charlie graduated from Dreher High School in 1980, and went on to attend Midlands Technical College. Charlie always loved cars—in addition to working with automobiles, he raced cars during his youth and was always an avid NASCAR fan. Charlie also found a great deal of fulfillment in nature. He loved to camp, fish, and garden.

Charlie's greatest legacy lives on in the love he shared with his fiancée, family, friends, and the pets he rescued. In addition to those already mentioned, Charlie is survived by his son, Calvin; daughters, Ashya, Amber, and Cheyanne; his grandchildren, Steven, Luke, Cade, Leslie, Carson, and Montgomery; his brothers, William and Robert; his father, Charles Sr. and his mother, Vickey.

Flowers may be sent in care of Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Circle of Care presented by Lexington Medical Center. This fund assists with the needs of the family, friends, and health care providers who support, encourage, and guide those fighting cancer. Jim Hudson, Charlie's employer, is donating all monies raised this year in honor of him. Please visit to make a donation in Charlie's memory.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

I too worked with CMoore at Jim Hudson's GMC store for many years and yes indeed he was passionate about his profession. But his children were most important in his life and he would do whatever it took to help them. I know he is still looking down at them and would give anything to be right here with them. Rest In Peace pal!!

I spent 3 years working with Cmoore. I could not have asked for a better mentor. I was his manager but he taught me more than I could ever teach him. When I think of the position “service technician” I think of Charlie Moore. The amount of skill and class he applied to his work is second to none. We joked via text the last few months of dressing up as security guards and bailing him out of the hospital. Even at the end he brought joy to our conversation. Rest easy my friend, you are surely missed!

Charlie was a great friend to me we worked together throughout my career for 30 Years. He was the best mechanic I have ever known and even better person. The world is a little darker without him. I know he loved his children more than anything. He talked about you all with passion and pride. He will be greatly missed.
