Born on March 20, 1934 in Greensboro, NC, Charlie was the beloved son of Escoe Howard Peele and Maude Loveable Hinsdale Peele. He spent his early years learning the appliance business. He started out keeping the Hotpoint warehouse organized, selling inventory to dealers and sweeping the floor. He made such an impression on the higher ups with his marketing strategies they quickly promoted him and put him on the road to sell. He eventually started his own appliance business in 1978 called The Display Center - Appliance City and grew that from one store to 5 stores, 3 locations in the Columbia area and two locations in Charleston, SC.
Charlie will be remembered for his sense of humor, wit, and maybe a little for his temper, but definitely his passion for golf. He especially enjoyed playing golf and gin rummy with his buddies at Columbia Country Club. He was a faithful member St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Charlie is survived by his wife Nancy Parker Peele, of 71 years; his daughter, Katherine Cox (William Cox), Burts Brewer son in law; grandchildren, Jessica Wallace Sykes, (Daniel Sykes), Taylor Brewer and Luke Brewer; his great grandchildren, Nancy Sykes, Amelia Brewer, and Dorothy Sykes; niece, Joni Eilers Thomes; and nephews, Andrew Eilers, Timothy Eilers, James Michael Warbasse, Charles Philip Warbasse and Eric Warbasse. He was preceded in death by his parents, Escoe and Maude Peele; sisters, Colene Peele Eilers and BettyLou Peele Warbasse; daughters, Pamela Peele Wallace and Susan Peele Brewer; and grandsons, Parker Brewer and Marc Cox.
A funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Visitation at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm, with burial at Bush River Memorial Gardens following the service.

Charlie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. We especially thank our dear friend Cindy Stevens and Three Oaks Hospice, Dr. Spencer Lovelace, the staff, particularly Brennen Fetner, Rachael Lawson, Anna Oates and all his loving and devoted caregivers over the past two and a half years.
