Christopher DeWayne Van Hook, 39, of Columbia, SC passed away on March 18, 2022. He spent his career working in the service industry from the Midlands to the Low Country of South Carolina. Chris could make friends anywhere he went and “if you knew him, you knew him.” He was honest and didn’t hold back in life or at work. Tolkien wrote and Chris would agree, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” Chris was also a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation.
He is survived by his partner in crime and Paw Paw “Old Man”, Cecil D. Nichols; devoted brothers, Adam Daniel Van Hook (Leslie) and Reginald Van Montgomery, Jr. (Elsie) and a father, Sigmund Van Hook. Chris has one nephew and two nieces and many, many friends who he loved and cherished.
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Imogene Cartwright Nichols and his mother, Rhonda Elaine Montgomery.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 23 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC.
