Born on May 1, 1936, in Lexington, SC, Jeanette was the daughter of Victor and Daisy Floyd. She attended Lexington High School and went on to work as a Computer Operator for the State Newspaper for 25 years. She retired in 1998. Prior to the State paper, she also held positions at Carolina Pipeline & General Electric.
Jeanette was known for her warm humor and generous, loving spirit. As an avid sports fan, she loved the Atlanta Braves and Carolina Gamecocks the most; although she loved all sports. Jeanette spent much of her time traveling with her siblings and close friends. Her favorite destination was Reno, Nevada where “Keno” was her favorite game to play. Jeanette also had a deep compassion for all animals.
She is survived by her cousin, Nancy Kathryn Powell and Lindsey Lou Hughes. She was preceded in death by her parents Daisy and Victor Floyd, her brother, William Floyd, and sisters Sarah and Deborah Floyd among many cousins as well. She leaves behind a circle of deeply cherished friends who she considered family including Virginia Way and her best friend of 50 years, Brenda Blackwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Agape Hospice House in Lexington and St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington, SC.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
