Deborah Gail (Ford) Hawkins, 61, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 6, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving children and siblings. Born on November 1, 1963, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn Ford and Patricia Gail (Reaves) Parker.
Deborah met her first love, Jay Corley, at the age of 16 while they both worked at Bi-Lo. The two were married on May 8, 1982, and shared 28 years of marriage.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dustin (Morgan) Corley and Chloe Corley; her sister, Crystal (Tal) Dennis, and brother, Glenn Ford; her granddaughter, Hazel Grace Hupenbecker, and step-granddaughter, Briella Bolduc; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Deborah was a devoted and loving mother, always placing her children at the center of her life. After spending the early years at home with her son, she began her career with the City of Columbia as an administrative professional in the Traffic Engineering department, where she remained dedicated until her passing.
She had a deep affection for animals, always sharing her home with a canine companion, and she took great pride in her gardening talents. Her children and her dogs were the joy of her life, and she excelled in both roles.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel (503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072), officiated by Pastor Jeff Shipman. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories immediately following the service.
In lieu of cut flowers, the family kindly requests live plants or pink and yellow tulips in her honor.
