Delories W. Rains

She was born on December 26, 1939, in Roseboro, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Elbert V. West and Ellen L. West.

Delories dedicated many years of service to the South Carolina Employment Security Commission, where she worked as a Supervisor in Data Processing until her retirement. Following her retirement, she earned her real estate license and enjoyed helping people find a place to call home.

A faithful member of Beulah Methodist Church in Gilbert, Delories’ life was a reflection of her deep faith, kindness, and compassion. She was known for her gentle spirit, remarkable patience, and generous heart. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved, especially her family and beloved grandchildren. She looked forward to summer vacations at the beach and cherished worship and fellowship with her church family. Her home was always a place where family and friends were welcomed with a warm meal, a kind heart, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney G. Rains (Kathryn H. Rains) and Michael D. Rains; her grandchildren, Katherine G. Rains, Abby V. Rains, and Rhiannon E. Rains; her brother, Donald V. West; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Don Rains; her parents, Elbert V. West and Ellen L. West; her brother, Dearl E. West; and her beloved grandson, Kollin J. Rains.

A funeral service honoring the life of Delories West Rains will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Caughman Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, South Carolina. Family and friends are invited to attend as they honor and remember her life while celebrating the love, faith, and kindness she shared with all who knew her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the love she shared, the example she set, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her kindness, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
