Doyle LeRoy Grimes

LEXINGTON – Doyle L. Grimes, born to Roy and Mary Golda Grimes of Clio, Iowa on August 13, 1934, passed away on April 20, 2012 from a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his son, Calvin Eugene Grimes; his parents; his sisters, Evelyn Donald, Carolyn Donald and brother, Alan Grimes.

Remaining are his loving wife, Marilyn Blevins Grimes of 59 years of Lexington, SC; daughters, Vickie Grimes Smith (Glenn), Theresa Grimes Nix (David) and son, Craig Grimes, six grandchildren, Seth Nason Smith (Leah), Bethany Smith Hanley (Corey), Melanie Kayla Smith Reed (Ric), Austin Grimes (Blair), Joshua Nix (Kimberly) and Bryana Nix as well as three great-grand children, Emmie Smith, Haley Nix and Maddie Hanley; two sisters, Vernita MacEachern (Harold) and Willa Jean Cox, along with many nieces and nephews form all across the United States.

Mr. Grimes was active with Denver City, Texas Jaycees in the late 1950’s and 1960’s. He was a member of the Ruritan Club of West Columbia, SC. He also served as a long time member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church of West Columbia, SC.

Mr. Grimes was the newspaper Production Manager in the states of Iowa, Texas, West Virginia, Maryland, Florida and South Carolina. He was also a Real Estate Broker in West Columbia, SC.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Craig Grimes, Joshua Nix, Seth Smith, Austin Grimes, Glenn Smith, Corey Hanley and the Honorary Pallbearers are the Pineview Rutian Club and Mt. Hebron Methodist Men.
