It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward (Ned) George Grace on November 20, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in 1934 in Orchard Park, NY to Leon and Martha Grace, Ned was raised in East Aurora, NY, where he would form lifelong connections and begin a journey of service, family, and friendship.
Edward married his wife, Jacqueline Elspeth Cudmore, in 1955. Their partnership flourished in East Aurora, and in 1966 the family moved to Elma, NY. There, Edward and Jackie nurtured their shared passion for horses, a pursuit that would remain central to their lives for many years.
A dedicated community member, Edward was especially committed to the Boy Scouts of America, serving with distinction as both a Scoutmaster and District Commissioner. His leadership extended to the equestrian community, where he served for many years as president of the Silver Spurs Riding Club in Elma.
Professionally, Ned spent many years as a lineman for New York Telephone before transitioning to a role as a business systems installer. This career path brought him and his family from Elma, NY to Homestead, FL, and eventually to Plant City, FL.
After retiring from AT&T, Ned set up and ran his own communications consultancy, continuing to apply his skills and work ethic in his later years. Eventually, Ned left Florida and took up residence at Deepwood Estates in Lexington, SC, making new friends and pursuing new adventures until his recent troubles sent him to hospital.
Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife Jacqueline, daughters Victoria Halstead and Meredith Grace, son-in-law Preston Halstead, his brother Eugene Grace, and sister Audrey Fulmer. He is survived by his stepson, Powel Crosley, V and his wife Carmen, and his cherished grandchildren: John, Kate, and Justin Halstead, and Andrea, Milena and Sofia Crosley.
Edward’s memory will be honored at a memorial service to be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel at 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. The service is scheduled for November 24, 2025, starting at 2 p.m.
He will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, NY at a future date. His legacy of kindness, leadership, and devotion to family and community will live on in all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to your local Boy Scouts of America chapter.
