Edwin H. Carter, 94, was born March 16, 1928 in Escambia County, Alabama and passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was the son of the late James and Ida Mae Carter. He was the youngest of nine children.
Ed worked as a lineman for SCE&G. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he served three terms on the church council, was a member of the Loving Group, played in the church league men’s softball team and coached the girls’ softball team, helped with the Property and Grounds Ministry and was assistant Scoutmaster. He was a charter member of Lake Murray Community Club and a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge 152.
Ed is survived by his two children, Wanda Shah and David Carter; three grandsons and three great granddaughters. He was predeceased by his wife, Patty Carter.
Mr. Carter’s body will lie in state from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 3 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:40 am prior to the service at the church.
