Eleanor Lynn Corbett

Ms. Corbett was born in Columbia, SC, the daughter of Robert S. and Eleanor Corbett. She attended A.C. Flora High School where she was a cheerleader, honor student and athlete. She participated in an accelerated academics program and graduated in 1963. She also studied ballet and piano performance for many years. She attended the University of South Carolina where she was a cheerleader, Chi Omega Sorority Rush Chairman and choral director. She earned a BA in art and graduated in 1967.

Ms. Corbett had a successful career at Southern Bell/Bell South from 1969-1996. She worked as an operator, administrative clerk, area instructor and retired as a network supervisor in June of 1996. She also worked as a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and swimming teacher for many years. She was also a professional aerobics and fitness instructor and loved to encourage people to stay active.

Ms. Corbett lived in her home in Oak Grove from 1976-1996. After retirement, she moved to Lake Murray where she lived with her beloved cats. She enjoyed dance, music, TV, sports, nature and visiting with family and friends. Her hero and “heartstring” was NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon.

Ms. Corbett was a life-long participant in and supporter of the Christian faith. She sang in the choirs of Trinity Cathedral and St. Albans Episcopal Church for more than 20 years. She was an outspoken witness to the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Ms. Corbett is survived by her brother, Bobby Corbett, and niece, Robin Corbett Blanton (Brent) as well as many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ms. Corbett’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington. A reception will follow the service.
