It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Emily Everett, born January 15, 1991. Emily left this mortal coil on September 26, 2026, leaving behind a world that is quieter without her in it.
Emily was one of those rare souls who could not simply pass through your life without leaving a mark. She never met a stranger. Her heart was big, her spirit was free, and her presence could light up a room. She loved fiercely, laughed freely, and lived life in her own wonderfully eclectic way. Emily was unapologetically herself, and that was one of the things everyone who loved her treasured most.
She found joy in the unusual and beautiful things that others might overlook. She loved collecting oddities, working with wildlife, spending time with her friends, and, most of all, loving on her beloved entourage of dogs. They were more than pets—they were family and some of the lucky recipients of Emily’s enormous heart.
Her happiest place was the family cabin in North Carolina, where she could simply be Emily—surrounded by nature, family, memories, and the peace she found in the places she loved. Her twin nieces held a very special place in her heart and were her pride and joy. She loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent making memories with them.
Emily is survived by her longtime partner, Adam; her parents, Bonnie and Joe McElveen and Stephen Everett; her beloved Mim, Betty Mileski; her brothers, Joel and Craig; her stepbrother, Leland McElveen; her nieces, Anna, Amelia, and Mikayla; and her nephews, Cole and Aidan. She also leaves behind her cherished dogs, Biscuit, Snacks, Boomhauer, and Peggy, and an extended circle of friends and family whose lives were made brighter simply because Emily was part of them.
To know Emily was to know someone unforgettable. She had a way of making people feel welcome, of finding beauty in the strange and unexpected, and of loving without reservation. Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, but the memories she gave us will remain—her laughter, her stories, her unique style, her enormous heart, and all the little pieces of Emily that will forever live on in the people and animals she loved.
A memorial service celebrating Emily’s life will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors following the service, with light refreshments to be served.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Emily’s honor to the Carolina Wildlife Center, 5551 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, in recognition of her deep love for wildlife and the natural world.
Emily, you were one of a kind. You were loved more than you knew, and you will be missed more than words can ever say. Your time here was far too short, but the love you gave and the light you brought into this world will remain with us always.
Until we meet again, sweet Em. ❤️
