Emily “Ann” Powell of Lexington, South Carolina died peacefully on September 2, 2026 at the age of 87. Born April 20, 1939 in Red Bank, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Claude S. Powell and Kathryn Jeffcoat Powell.
She was predeceased by her brother, Bennie H. Powell and his wife, Lee Corley Powell. She is survived by her nieces, Lisa Powell Busbee (Keith) and Tracy Powell Green (Glen).
Ann retired from Baptist Hospital, where she worked as a nursing aid for 42 years.
The family would like to thank all staff at Lexington Extended Care for the love and care they gave Ann. Also, a very heartfelt thank you and gratitude to all the women in the Faith Sunday School Class at Lexington Baptist Church for all the visits, meals, and love they bestowed upon Ann over the years. We do not know what our family would have done without the help.
Visitation will be held at Lexington Baptist Church located on Main Street, Lexington, South Carolina 29072, on September 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will take place at Lexington Baptist Church – Sanctuary on September 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Church – Elder Fund, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072, or Lexington County Recreation Department – Meals on Wheels, LCRAC (Attn: MOW) to 125 Parker St, Lexington, SC 29072.
