Eva Mae Monts

Eva Mae Monts, 95, went to be with her Lord on August 18, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1929, to the late Orris Franklin Bickley, Sr. and Pearle Younginer Bickley. She married Howard Monts on January 31, 1950. They were blessed to have 50 years together. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Eva Mae graduated with high honors from Irmo High School in 1946. She is remembered as the author of the Irmo High School Alma Mater. After graduation from Columbia Commercial College, she held positions with the State Department of Education, General Electric Company, and Irmo Post Office where she retired after 27 years of service. She loved doing crossword puzzles and being outdoors. Her family has wonderful memories of camping trips in the mountains and at the beach. She loved her friends who returned her love. Eva Mae loved the Lord and her church. She was a charter member at Mount Olive Lutheran Church of Irmo.

Eva Mae is survived by her sons: Earl (Cathy) Monts and Eddie (Joyce) Monts; grandchildren: Jamie (Connie) Monts, Christy (Daryl) Hooker, Rebecca (Josh) Hall, Joshua (Eryn) Monts and Jonathan Monts; and great-grandchildren: Katy, Caroline, and Samantha Hooker, Jase and Jacob Hall, Cole Waters, Chloe Monts and Maria McClive.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Virginia Bickley Derrick; a brother, Orris E. Bickley, Jr.; grandson, Joseph Monts and his wife, Kristen.

A celebration of life will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 1541 Lake Murray Blvd., in Irmo on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2:30 PM, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.
