Fannie Mae Tolen

Fannie went to school in Long Island and Bronx, NY until the age of 16, where she returned to South Carolina and attended Hampton High School in Leesville, SC where she graduated. She then met and married Charlie Tolen, whom she was a beloved wife for 72 years and raised 9 children while working for Gant Burger, Artheral Healthcare and Lexington Florist for many years until retiring. Fannie was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church before coming to Concord Fellowship Baptist Church here in Columbia where she made it her permanent home. She loved her church family in Christ. Fannie was a devoted wife and mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Charlie Tolen; 4 daughters, Shirley Vasquez, Mary Tolen, Annette Tolen of Columbia, SC, Delores (Eric) Morrison of Columbia; 2 sons, David Tolen and Anthony Tolen both of Columbia, SC. Also a host of 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by 3 children, son, Charlie Tolen Jr; daughters, Judy Tolen and Sue Tolen-Robinson.

A visitation for Fannie will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina 29072. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Concord Fellowship Baptist Church, 7831 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203.

Fannie will be laid to rest in Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.
