LEXINGTON - Frank Gene Williams, Sr. of Lexington passed away on February 14, 2018. He was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and served two years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a systems analyst for IBM and later vice-president of Digitron Inc. Frank was also a former president of the Lexington County Arts Association, where he performed in many productions and built countless sets. He was a driving force at Village Square Theatre where the costume annex is named in his honor. He was born September 14, 1937, to the late Furney Williams and Lorine Lybrand Williams of West Columbia.
He is survived by his former wife, Ellon Sloan Williams, daughter Dana D. Kelly (Rhett), granddaughters Ashley Sloan Lawson, Macey Claire Lawson, and step-granddaughters Caroline Sarah Kelly and Campbell Suzanne Kelly. Also surviving are his niece Donna Ring (Greg) and nephews, Mike Bise (Debbie) and Tom Bise (Susan). He is predeceased by his parents, wife, Pat Williams, son, Gene Williams and sister, Barbara Bise.
In 2015 he was inducted into the S.C. Shagging Club Hall of Fame. He enjoyed many days on the golf course and had many talents including singing, dancing and woodworking. But he most enjoyed spending time with his daughter and granddaughters, whom he loved dearly.
Frank celebrated his 80th birthday last year at a surprise party attended by many of his longtime friends. He sang and danced and, as always, made the rounds shaking hands, sharing stories and cracking jokes with people who meant so much to him over the years.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at Providence Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. with service to follow at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Lutheran Church, 840 Old Chapin Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.
